Assist Your Relief Of Stress And Anxiety From Massage Chairs

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

Stress is a response to stimuli from your environment. It comes from your perception that something is causing change to the status quo. Put another way, stress causes changes in your body that are physical and psychological. The effects of stress can vary by situation and by individual. Massage chairs are effective in providing relief to the aches, pains and the tension caused by stress and anxiety.

Many times stress is prolonged as we ruminate over a situation in our mind. As our mind is running in circles, all the nervous energy is stored in the body and is not being released. This type of stress damages the body because the body is ready to take immediate action, but all the action is going on in the mind.

One major area causing stress and anxiety stems from our relationships. The trials and tribulations of getting along with others sets off many physiological issues. Sometimes we put ourselves into bad situations and sometimes others put us in them. Either way we perceive these situations as difficult which causes an increase in stress and anxiety.

Our bodies have a pretty standard reaction to the environment. It is either fight or flight. To facilitate this reaction, the body automatically releases hormones like glucocorticoids and adrenalin. The purpose of releasing these hormones is to prepare the body for fighting or running. These hormones provide extra energy by increasing the heart rate and blood flow. Your body is reacting the same as when we lived in caves and had immediate danger. Unfortunately, modern day stress is mostly our perceptions and inability to solve a problem immediately.

Stress and anxiety can produce psychological effects such as suppression of the immune system. This can make you more susceptible to infections. It can affect erectile dysfunction or ED and it can cause disruption of the menstrual cycle. Chronic stress has a negative impact on brain functions such as learning, memory and judgment, which don’t function well under stress.

Some of the physical effects that are commonly reported with stress and anxiety are muscle tension and tightness. Stress tends to concentrate in particular muscles of the neck, back and especially the shoulders. These muscles are held in a tightened position causing them to become fatigued. They lose their elasticity and flexibility as they become stiffer.

Massage chairs are very effective to help relieve the symptoms of stress and anxiety. A massage chair is equipped with many massage techniques that perform different modes of massage. Some are designed for deeper tissue relief, where others are for invigoration and others are for soothing. The back, neck and shoulders can be targeted for focused relief at the touch of a button.

When the muscles become tight, they need to be loosened. Under stress your muscles lose flexibility because they are held under stress and become stiffer. Loosening the muscles and stretching them helps to restore their flexibility. This can sometimes be uncomfortable in situations where the muscles have been under stress for long periods.

A massage chair is an excellent asset in relieving your stress and anxiety. A massage chair helps your body to relax which in turn helps your mind to relax. Stress can impair our judgment, so we need to clear our minds and bodies to better deal with these situations. Massage chairs provide a haven in turbulent times to relax the body and mind.

These modern times come with new categories of stress and anxiety. We need modern methods to combat the tension caused by the build of stress and anxiety. Our bodies need a way to release the stress out of our bodies on a periodic basis. Stress is ongoing and so must our methods of relieving it from our bodies. Massage chairs provide and excellent therapeutic means to keep the stress and anxiety of modern times in check.

Massage Chairs: Supplement Your Massage Choices

Monday, June 7th, 2010

If you have gotten a hand massage from a massage therapist then you know that it can really be good. Also, you also know it can also be average. Many times I end up with a massage therapist that simply doesn’t use enough pressure to relieve my tension. Or I have to spend my time explaining exactly what I need while trying to relax. One of the major benefits of using a massage chair is I can direct the massage to exactly where I wanted and use the right level of pressure to relieve my aches and discomforts.

Many times I see a massage therapist I have to explain where I would like them to concentrate. Sometimes they will faithfully follow my suggestions. Other times they seem to ignore it or simply do a superficial massage over the area. This is one of the disadvantages of using a massage therapist as opposed to a massage chair.

Then if I am really lucky, the therapist will actually hit the spot. Other times they just seem to miss it or do not provide deep enough penetration to relieve it. Sometimes it seems they might be too tired to really put in the extra effort.

Have you ever gotten a massage therapist that you to the light and superficial massage? Usually that occurs after they have done a number of sessions and they are becoming tired. He spent an hour getting a light massage that doesn’t penetrate through the muscles to relieve the tension.

Although I love getting a hand massage, one of the problems is that this workforce tends to be fairly transient. It is hard to find a consistent massage therapist to last a number of years. Normally the turnover is quite high and finding a good one can be tough.

My massage chair on the other hand, I have to train it once. Once I understand the remote control, believe me I can figure out the rest. I then know what buttons to push to relieve my aches and pains without explanation.

Massage chairs contained a variety of different massage techniques including shiatsu, Swedish, deep tissue, reflexology and acupressure. It is hard to find a massage therapist that can specialize in each of these techniques well.

In fact, massage chairs have hundreds of variation of massages. All body massages can be performed but also the massage can be focused to a particular region or even spot. This enables you to apply the proper technique to thoroughly relieve your muscle tension.

Every now and then I end up missing an appointment with a masseuse. Sometimes they cancel or other times I’m just too busy. Either way, I end up not getting the massage that I needed. I know it’s important to get regular massage is to get the true benefits but many times it can be hard with a massage therapist.

Although the hours of many spas and salons have increased to accommodate many people, sometimes I am not able to get the times I most like. I also normally have to book a full hour. On the other hand, my massage chair is always available and I can take short or long massages depending on my schedule.

Now don’t get me wrong, I do love a great human massage. It is truly one of the best therapies there are when performed properly. But just like anything, there are trade-offs. I really enjoy the convenience of 24/7 access to my massage chair. The fact I can tailor the massage to meet my exact needs is very important.

These are just a few of the things that I like about a massage chair as opposed to a massage therapist. I love the consistency and reliability of my massage chair. It is easier for me to relax more thoroughly in the comfort of my massage chair recliner.

Autogenic Relaxation Technique Explanation

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

If there are any people today who do not encounter stress of some kind they are rare indeed. The pressures of jobs and personal issues can become overbearing. A German psychiatrist Johannes Schultz developed a relaxation technique called Autogenic Training which has been adapted by a large number of people undergoing worldly problems. To be successful in any stress reducing program one must be dedicated to following through on a regular basis and not do what is required only when feeling like it.

Nothing can be worse than feeling the depression that is caused by the problems of your day to day life. Being able to use a method that will help you leave your problems behind offers people a great hope. There have been a variety of ideas in the past few years on how to get away from your problems and enjoy peace and tranquility.

The Autogenic Training method is comprised of 15 minute periods, three times daily, which enables the user to become more relaxed. The process is quite similar to self-hypnosis, where the person talks themselves into a partially conscious way of being, leaving all their stress far behind.

Placing themselves in a pre-determined position (it can be sitting, lying down, standing or wherever comfortable), they repeat various phases to themselves and their body follows the command. For example, saying “my arm (leg or other body part) will relax” the body follows through by relaxing. This is done for various parts of the body until complete unwinding of muscles is obtained.

There are many modern regimens that are built upon the idea that relaxation that can be obtained by Autogenic Training or The Ultimate Massage Chair Black (HW566BLK), can help in relieving acute stress and/or lessen more common aches and pains we all suffer.

This has worked for many people and has allowed them to receive the physical and mental relief they are seeking. The positioning of the body when using this technique has often been compared to Yoga. However, the main thing is that the person using this method to achieve complete relaxation be in a position that is comfortable to them. Often this is done by lying flat on the back and, starting at the feet, ordering the body, one body part at a time to’ let go’ and relax.

This is a technique that is not learned overnight, as it takes a while to reach the desired effect. Allowing your body’s muscles to relax, one muscle at a time, gives you the feeling of releasing all your cares and woes. When you reach this state, your mind can now concentrate on the moment’s enjoyment, leaving behind all the problems you may have in your life.

A good number of today’s mental and physical therapists teach their patients how to perform this technique, as it is an easy thing to do that doesn’t take a great deal of time. This technique is something you can do on your own, and after you have been trained, you can continue to do it without any supervision. In these troubled economic times, it is certainly the goal of everyone to rid themselves of stress. While it is possible to make due without having the support of sessions like the Autogenic Training, it can be very difficult, and this technique is an easy method to gain total relaxation.
